Taping? you mean like with a video recorder?
Do you mean recording it using Sky (or similar)?
Question Author
Video recorder.
I think the most likely cause is that, due to wear/ageing of the tape drive components, the recorder thinks that it has reached the end of the tape even though it hasn't. Will it play a tape all the way from start to end without stopping prematurely?
Does it only do it when you are taping a film or does it do it with all programmes you record?

Apparently it's just the one film ( now I'm told!) I't's The good, the bad & the ugly, tried 3 times.
Next time you try to record it add an extra hour on the recording time.
Or buy a professional recording on VHS from eBay

An extra hour was added..every time it stopped at 38 minutes.
There you go Fibonnaci has put it on for you, you can expand it to watch it fill screen.
... and it definitely has the ending on it.
14:19 'full' screen ..
Question Author
Thank you for answers, I realise I can buy DVD on line..my original question was does anyone know what is wrong with our equipment.
Have you tried a brand new VHS tape?
How, exactly, are you recording it? Make and model of recorder, how is it connected etc.
If, for example, you are trying to record it by pointing a camera at the TV set it will fail after a time because of the recording time limit on some video cameras. I am unaware of any video tape recorders which will receive a digital TV signal, so the type of recording machine is relevant.
wrayperson as it's only the one film that does this, why worry?
If you do as bhg481 asks, someone may be able to help you.
^yes, I'm trying to understand the "taping", VHS etc references, too
VHS video recorders will record digital TV if it is connected to a set top box
