J V C Tv Black Screen

Hi sat watching tv this afternoon and the screen went black. Sound still on. I have tried all tips on u tube. I even went and bought a new lead for tv to sky box but no luck. If I switch it off at the plug and turn it back on the screen may come on for three seconds then go black again. Anyone any advice much appropriated …

(A duff capacitor somewhere on a circuit board could explain a picture briefly appearing and then vanishing again).

Like Barry, the possibility of it being a fault with your Sky box did cross my mind. However, if that failed, I'd expect you to either see a blank 'snowy' screen or a 'no signal' message on your telly.
If you've got any alternative way of inputting a signal (such as a DVD player) it might be worth giving that a try. If you still don't get a picture, you'll know the the TV has a fault. If you do then get a picture though, it's your Sky box that's faulty.
