Instagram Problem

Somehow or other I've managed to put the whole of the photo gallery from my laptop/tablet/phone on to Instagram, where I definitely do not want it. Please can you advise me how to get rid of it? I have deleted the app, but am wondering whether that was sufficient to wipe the whole thing or whether other people can still see the pics?

>>> I have deleted the app

I think that might have been a mistake! You had a tool on your phone (i.e. the app) which could be used for uploading or deleting Instagram posts to the web. The fact that you've now got rid of that tool won't change what's already there on the web but it will mean that, at the moment, you can't remove any posts from the Instagram site.

So, as I see it, you'll need to reinstall the app on your phone OR, possibly simpler, log into your Instagram account via a web browser on a PC or other device. Then you can delete any posts that you don't want to remain on the site.

Thank you. I realised as soon as I'd deleted it that it might have been a silly thing to do. I'll have a double espresso and then bite the bullet.

Or maybe it should be a camomile tea.

I don't understand. I've followed the link (thank you again)and have done everything it tells me to do. It said it would send me a link to reset my password - which I knew was correct anyway - but that didn't arrive. The app icon isn't showing on my phone although I deleted it from Settings, but I can still access it there via the browser. App is still on my tablet. When I log on to both of those, the 17 posts (the original ones that I want to retain) are still there, but not the rest. Was I imagining that all the gallery was there? I only checked because I've recently had a number of new followers and I didn't know why.

I'm lost! (I don't use Instagram myself, so I'm fumbling a bit in the dark here).

If you've managed to get into your Instagram account via a web browser though, you'll see everything that's currently on the site from you. If photos you didn't want there aren't shown, then they're not there anyway, so nobody else can see them.

Perhaps, when you thought you were viewing your Instagram page, you were actually looking at the contents of your photos folder on your phone, with Instagram waiting for you to select one to upload? That would explain how you saw all of your images while using the app. If so, you never uploaded those images to Instagram in the first place, so you've been worrying over nothing!

I think that must be what happened. My head is all over the place at the moment (daughter very ill), so I'm not thinking straight. I still don't know why a dozen more people have suddenly started following me. I know it's not many, but there were very few originally, mostly just family. I'll put it down to experience and delete the panic zone in my head.
