to my laptop, which was bought refurbished a couple of months ago. Since getting it every time I turn it on I have to log in to everything again. I recently cleared all my cookies (well I think that is what I did) but I still need to log in and put in passwords. How can I get it to remember me? Second part, do you turn your computer off when you have finished, as I found that by just closing the lid of the laptop I don't have to log in again each time, but not sure if it is a good thing to leave it on all the time but with the lid closed when not in use. Certainly makes it easier not having to log in to every thing each time.

Check that you've not got Chrome configured to clear all cookies upon closing. (That's actually my preferred setting but you obviously don't want it enabled). Click the three dots. (Top right). What make
The reason that you have to log in to everything again is precisely because you cleared all your cookies which, as well as other things, are used by web apps to allow users in without having to log in every time. However, once you've logged in once, you should get in without logging in next time - unless:

1) you have somehow turned off your browser's ability to save such cookies - unlikely;

2) you have not clicked on the equivalent of "Remember me" when logging in the first time - much more likely.
Which web browser are you using?

Google I think, and I do click remember me but for example I switched it off by mistake earlier tonight and when I came on here I had to log in again. Its a Lenovo. I also have to log in again to my emails and also facebook which is very annoying as I have to prove who I am each time. If I just close the lid though it keeps me logged in but I don't know if that is either safe (ie leaving it on all the time) or sensible.
Google? You mean Google Chrome?

Yes I think so. Its a round red blue and yellow logo.

'Clear cookies and site data when you close all windows' needs to be toggled to the 'Off' (grey) setting.

Thanks Chris, excellent advice as usual, I have greyed out that and when I turned it off and on I was able to get straight back on here. How on earth do people know these things?

Of course that then answers the second part of my question, as I don't now need to leave it on when I have finished!
