Morning
I have a smart TV that just runs over a house aerial
Since about 2 weeks having reception problems and to retune to get any picture/channels without interference I have to jiggle the aerial cable in the socket and try over and over …. I bought a signal booster but that’s not working at all ….. do you think I am doing something wrong or is it the Aerial ??? I have lived here 15 years and still same old one … or could it be a problem with the wall socket if I have to jiggle the cable to get more digital channels …. Thank you for any assistance
Ps … don’t know if I need to call out a TV or an Aerial guy ??

Is it an indoor or outdoor aerial? If its outdoor it may have moved.

Try an indoor aerial.



Has there been any transmitter work done in your area?

Take a look at the cable - maybe try another cable?

It would be cheaper to get an aerial signal tester - that way you would have an idea whether it was the signal or the TV at fault.

The fact that jiggling the aerial in the socket could imply the coax plug has a problem.

It’s an outdoor aerial … I have tried different coax cables in the socket but all the same ?. Will have a look at an aerial tester … thank you

do not buy an indoor Ariel unless you can see the transmitter there are useless otherwise, if you have to jiggle the wall socket then thats the fault i would say, get a new socket

My rooftop aerial ceased working reliably because of a problem with the coax socket in the wall. (Just like your situation, a bit of jiggling could sometimes get it working properly). A simple bit of work with a screwdriver and a soldering iron might well fix it. (If you need to get a professional in, it's an aerial fitter that you need).

However the problem could also be inside the coax plug on the end of the lead that feeds to your TV. It won't break the bank to try another one:

Thank You to everyone thats commented ... I think I will get an Aerial fitter in to check it out ... cross all thats its a quick fix
