With regard to the above, OpenOffice is a fine set of software but it's beginning to look a little dated these days. LibreOffice has been spun off from OpenOffice, so it retains all of that software's best points but is perhaps a bit more up to date. e.g. although OpenOffice can read files saved in the most recent Microsoft file formats, it uses older ones when saving. LibreOffice both reads and writes using the latest Microsoft file formats, (as well as using Open Document formats, which everyone except Microsoft now use).
So LibreOffice Calc might be exactly what you need instead of Excel, Baz. However there are other alternatives too. On my own PC, I've got OpenOffice, LibreOffice and SoftMaker FreeOffice, which I increasingly find myself using these days:

(FreeOffice uses the latest Microsoft formats by default)
Yet another alternative, that also gets good reviews, is WPS Office:

With so many high-quality freebies around, there's never any real need for anyone to use Microsoft Office at all.
