audio tapes

I am trying to transfer my audio tapes to my computer. I have used the headphone socket on my tape player and connected it to the line in connection on the computer. I have made sure the volume control is not muted but it will not work. I am using RIP Vinyl programme. There is no sound comming from my speakers although they work OK on windows media player Can anyone help. Yours Colin

Have you checked the line in volume is not muted / low?

(mine is set as muted as default)
