Headphones Cutting Out...
4 Answers
Probably for Buenchico as he's a long-time user of these & I bought them on his recommendation (that's *not* a criticism, I'm very happy with them on the whole!), but welcome comments from all :-)
I have 2 pairs (long & irrelevant story) of SONY MDR-RF811RK Wireless Headphones - they're brilliant & extremely comfortable to wear for long periods. But...the sound cuts out...intermittently for 2-3...secs at a time (... to try & show it). It might happen once, several times a minute then stop, then reappear later or it might not happen at all for a whole evening.
It does it on live TV, with recorded progs & with streamed TV. It *almost* always does it when there's a sudden noise such as a gunshot or explosion, but doesn't always continue for the whole gun battle (or whatever's going on). I turned the TV on yesterday, The One Show was on & the presenters were cutting out intermittently. It stopped doing it until Masterchef, during which it happened on 2 separate occasions then stopped for the rest of the evening.
I've changed the channel on both sets of headphones & bases (& mixed & matched them - all work on either channel), reseated the plug & they're never under-charged. I'm at a loss now & would appreciate any thoughts as to why this is happening as it can be *very* irritating.

When I had the same problem, I discovered that it was because the input signal was only around the cut-off level for the transmitter unit to work. So try turning up the volume setting on your telly (and, of course, turning down the volume control on the headphones to compensate).
