Why Does My Freesat Box Do This

Over the last couple of days when I take my freesat box out of standby it says 'We are setting up your dish'. It did it for a couple of weeks some time ago and then it stopped. Now it's doing it again. The message goes after a few seconds and it works fine.

The standby mode on your Freesat box might be set to an energy-saving one, which is known to generate that message when the box is first turned on. Press Home on your remote, then Settings, then System settings, then Standby mode, then Set Standby Mode. Change the mode from Passive to Active, then Save & Close. That should solve your problem. I have never used a freesat box but has it got different degrees of 'off' in the settings? Sleep mode so it turns on very quickly and perhaps an eco mode that uses less electricity but has to do more to properly turn on.
Must be flawed, losing the settings and needing to reestablish them; would be my guess. Hope it's still in warranty.

Hmmm... it will be on TV soon... on Antiques Roadshow, so I guess I'll just use it until it blows up!

That should solve your problem. However, as Active standby mode uses more electricity than Passive mode does, it'll probably also add about twenty quid to your annual electricity bill!
