I bought my daughter an mp3 player for her christmas and, not being very clued up on such things, am having trouble setting the thing up. The software disc I got with it doesn't seem to be installing properly and I have tried again and again to reinstall, but still no icon appears on desktop. Its a Designer Vision mp3 player from toys r us (1gb). Does anyone know how I can sort this out eg download drivers from somewhere? I use windows 98.

Most mp3 players work as follows:

You have an mp3 player and a cable.

You plug one end of the cable into the mp3 player, the other end into a USB socket on your computer, like this:

The PC should recognize a device has been plugged in and may give a few small windows saying a new device has been added.

Your computer will probably have a "C" drive and a "D" drive (CD player) so it will make this new device your "E" drive (letters may vary)

On your Windows desktop you should have an icon My Computer. Double click on it and you should see little icons showing your devices.

Double click on the "C" drive to open it up and find your mp3 files.

Now double click on your mp3 players ("E" drive) and open that up.

Now holod down the mouse button and drag (copy) the file from the "C" drive to the mp3 players.

Now remove the USB cable connecting the mp3 player to the PC and you should be able to play the mp3 songs on the player.
