My son bought this mobile phone before Christmas. Everything is fine except he's unable to download photos onto his computer even with the software. Can anyone please give us some pointers as it appears very complicated. Thank you.

I have the same phone as your son, and this is how i've done it. My phone didn't come with a pc lead so I bought a bluetooth dongle. When setup, the software with the dongle will search for devices in range and detect the phone(while it is searching the phone must be in 'File Transfer mode'). Another way I've found to transfer files is to insert an SD card into the phone - transfer al the files from the phone to the card - remove the card and put it into a card reader. The card then shows up as a mass storage device in My Computer. Hope this helps.

Please forgive my ignorance Carl but would you tell me what a dongle and a SD card is - and can I buy them both at an Orange shop?

Sorry, that should be Carlos.

Sorry Cetti - You can get hold of a Bluetooth Dongle by following this link http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=14486428520&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=51441

This is about the cheapest i've seen them - you could go to a shop, but they tend to be a bit on the expensive side. Its basically a wireless transmitter/reciever using the Bluetooth standard(any product with bluetooth capabilities will work with this dongle). It allows communication between two devices. The software that comes with it will place a 'My Bluetooth Places' icon on the desktop. First, open the phone and press the centre button, just underneath the sanyo logo. Then select Bluetooth. On the next menu select File Transfer Mode, and then yes when the phone queries. The phone is now ready to be connected to. Now, double click on My Bluetooth Places on the desktop. Then 'View devices In Range'(it's on the left hand menu of the window thats opened). The phone should appear in the window. Double click on this icon. The first time you do this it might ask you for a code. This can be any 4 numbers but they have to be the same on both the phone and the pc(the phone will ask for a code the first time you connect to it). Once this is done the browser will open to a screen which will be familiar to your son and the photos are in the folder named Picture. Then, just copy the files to your hard drive as normal. Hope this helps

By the way - an SD card is a little storage card that fits into the top of the phone. You then take it out and insert it into a card reader which you connect to your pc. The card will appear in My Computer as a mass storage device, and can be treat as an extra hard drive. They come in sizes from 32MB to over 1GB and prices vary.

Bless your heart Carlos, you've been so kind - and yes, it certainly does help. My son has a 98SE computer which didn't want to know any part of the Sanyo software, so in my innocence I suggested he bring it down and we'd have a go with my XP. Everything was going fine until Device Manager gobbledegook started appearing which sent me scurrying to the AnswerBank ....and much needed guidance. Thank you again.
