Proton Mail

A friend has received an email telling her that the above is closing on Thursday. I've had a look at the internet and I can't see anything to confirm that so I suspect the message is a scam. Does anyone know please? Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. She's rather worried about having to set something else up..

There are a number of texts/emails doing the rounds telling people similar things. Usually they have a link to click or will send one in a following mail. NEVER click on any link from an email.

If you know how you can see the authenticity of the mail but unless you are an IT expert I would advise against trying.

As ever with this sort of thing go to the website directly (not from a mail/text) or phone them (And dont use a number from the email).

I can confirm it will be a scam. I have had Proton Mail for many years and it's not closing. Always hover the mouse pointer over any links or buttons in emails .. check the hyperlink that is shown to verify the authenticity. The from email address can be spoofed, so not a guarantee checking that is sufficient enough.

I'm not certain if all email providers do this, but if you put the curser on the name of the sender at the top of the email it will tell you the real name of the sender, if it is different from the one it purports to be, bin it.
