I'd be surprised if there is a significant increase in battery usage but, as a first approximation, it will take up about twice as much space on the memory card.

Incidentally, depending on what size screen you view the video on, you might, or might not, notice any difference. A few years ago we upgraded our TV from about 50" to about 55" and re-watched some of the holiday videos I'd taken and edited down onto BluRay; on the new, larger, TV they had a slight softness about them. Looking at the video details I discovered that I'd accidentally reduced the resolution to 720p from 1080p when creating the discs. I still had the original data so I re-rendered the video in 1080p and the sharpness re-appeared. The video had appeared perfectly acceptable on the old TV so it was only the increase in screen size which showed up the slight loss of resolution.
I have all my cameras at 720p - less space and the quality is fine for my hedgehog videos.
I have my car dashcams at 720p. It saves a lot of space/gives me more recording time on a card and I can easily read registration numbers etc, so the definition is clearly adequate.
