What's the best way to clean a camera lens?

Get a dust blower/brush - these are brushes attached to a small rubber squeezy ball type item which can remove any dust by a combination of light brushing and air.

If there is grease - try some lens cleaning tissues or a good quality lint free cloth. Always rub side to side and not in a circular motion.

Jessops do a little lens cleaning kit for 5.99. Might be worth investing in. If its just a small compact camera just clean with a soft lint free cloth like Billy says.
