2 different apps for maps and navigation and one GPSmap have appeared on my homepage
What are those apps called?
Question Author
Just what I say above
Question Author
I was trying to put a photo of them up here, but it didn't work
That sounds to me as if you've downloaded one or more apps from Google Play Store. You didn't need to and, as they'll just be taking up space on your phone, it would be best to remove them.

You shouldn't need to go anywhere near to Google Play Store. It's Google Maps (within the Google folder on your phone) that you need to be using.

I'll have another look Chris thanks

No it's not right,
Question Author
Ok I found it. I don't see a start button
Here's how I do it, step by step:

1. I tap on the folder labelled 'Google'.

2. I tap on the icon labelled 'Maps'.

3. I tap in the 'Search here' field.

4. I type in the location that I want to go to. (The postcode is easiest but a street name or, say, the name of a visitor attraction should also work).

5. I tap the 'Search' button (= the magnifying glass one).

6. The map then shows my destination. At the bottom of the screen there's a panel with buttons for 'Directions', 'Start', Save' and Share. I then simply tap on 'Start'.

NB: Tapping on the map toggles that bottom panel on and off. If you're not seeing it, try tapping the map to see if that will then bring it up, so that you can use it.

I managed to do it, the start button showed eventually
I've just tried it out. I think u mentioned I needed a car charger Chris. Thanks x
Hurrah! Yes, using your phone as a satnav is huge battery drain, definitely needs to be plugged in.

I use a lot of taxis and they all use their phones as satnavs. I use my tablet - same thing but much bigger screen.
Question Author
I have a sat nav too. I wanted to start and use my phone though. Thanks for you input Barry x
Always good to know you have an alternative, tam.
Question Author
Yes it is Barry. Any ideas on a Samsung a12 car charger, should I just look on ebay ?
Any USB car charger should do the job - doesn't your satnav use one?
Something like thihttps://www.argos.co.uk/product/4724100?clickPR=plp:1:11s
You might already have a USB socket to put the cable in if it's long enough to allow you to put the 'phone where you want it.
If your car has a USB port, simply use the charging lead that came with your phone.

If your car doesn't have a USB port, but does have a 'cigar' socket, get hold of one of these: https://www.bmstores.co.uk/products/goodmans-2-port-usb-car-charger-gold-3570053
My suggestion not good enough, Buen? :(
