the 360,is awesome but needs to be played on a proper set-up in my opinion ie big tv but you'll be doing well to get one at the moment !
It's a difficult question to answer aimee not knowing wht your boyfriend is like.
If he's already got a home console, that you'd be a safe bet on an Xbox 360, but at the mment as Matt says, getting one is near impossible. Besides, theres not really anything truly decent on the 360 just yet. But if your boyfriend loves his home consoles, or already owns an Xbox with Xbox Live, then that'd definately be the one to go for.
However, the PSP is also worth a go. If the bf is willing to try something new, and has never had a portable games machine before, it'd be agood choice. It's been out a while now, there are a good few decent games out for it, and it certainly looks the part. You can also play wirelessly with friends in some games, so if he has a few mates with PSP's, that'd certainly be a plus point.
But low battery life and the fact that, do you really want to play games on it that you can play on a regular sized teevee would turn people off.
There's no right or wrong choice for you, and no-one can say one's better than the other, since they're both completely different consoles, you just have to decide that knowing your boyfriend, which one he'd prefer.
Of the 2 of them, I own a 360, and while the machine itself is easily the most impressive thing I've ever played on, the games feel a bit hollow. I can't really give you an idea of the PSP since I don't own one, but I'm a pretty serious gamer, and the concept of the PSp has never really been sold on me - it's a lot of money for something that I'd be frightened to damage.
Hope that all helps.
If all else fails, just nip into Ann Summers, they're bound to have a sale on......
dredddnaught, why is my advice 'shabby' ?
i own a 360 and my son has a psp.i didnt say it was a kids toy i said it is more for someone who doesnt have access to the main tv in the house as why would you want to buy a 'ps2 in your hands' when you can own a 360 for example ?
i repeat the psp is an amazing bit of kit but not for me and actually the games arent that great at the moment.....unless you like driving sims of course.
but then pgr 3 is amazing......oh and its on 360 !
You said the PSP was for the younger gamer who can't get access to the main telly of the house. You've pigeonholed that console very poorly there.
And there are more than just driving games for the PSP, the likes of Virtua Tennis, Lumines, Everybody's Golf and an upcoming portable version of Katamari Damacy prove that.
And PGR3 aint that amazing. When you look at how good PGR2 is and see how they've changed it for the third outing, it's appauling.
dreddnaught - why do you own a 360 and not a psp then ?
pgr 3 is 'appalling' ? the game is amazing.the physics have been improved, the graphics are amazing,in-car view is breathtaking and this is the 1st driving game to truly capture rises and falls in track levels.any flaws that are there are minor such as menus and no list of cars already owned but these can be easily patched.
i guess we are gonna have to agree to disagree here ?!
I DO own a Nintendo DS however, and that give me a new way of playing games, and it's bloody fantastic. The PSP in my opinion is just more of the same stuff you get on home consoles, only you can play it on the move.
And I'll agree wholeheartedly that Gotham 3 is bigger, faster and prettier.
It just not better.
