My Sony Bravia Tv Works Better When Not Connected To My Pvr - Advice Please?
10 Answers
For years I have used a Humax PVR connected to my TV as I make many recordings and also cannot do without the live pause function - so effectively I am just using my expensive Sony Bravia as a monitor - is that correct?
Whilst the picture/sound is really good (I thought) I recently had to change my PVR and whilst I had not got it I played my TV without and the picture/sound clarity was much better!
I am elderly and not an expert in these things (although tech savvy with computers) and I cannot do without my PVR so I suppose there is no answer! I do not want to go to Sky as all programs I need are on Freeview.
Will be buying a new TV later in year and within reason I am no limited by cost so.......any other options please anyone!
I must say over the years my Humax has been superb and I can record 4 plus programs at a time which is my main priority but..........using my expensive tv just as a monitor seems senseless!
Thanks everyone

Barry 2010. New FVP5000T 2 years old is no problem and has not let me down. Do not see need to upgrade to latest model? One thing I mention is that I adjusted the TV to get correct picture so when I change to TV only option the sound is better but the colour is then is very light.
If I set TV to correct colour then switch to hdmi1 for the Humax then the colours are far to dark!
Thanks

Make sure the aerial and hdmi cable are firmly in place at all connections.
If that doesn't help have a look at the onscreen video settings to see if any changes help (I always make a written note of the settings before I make changes so I can restore them if needed).
If the picture quality is still not improved contact Humax on 0344 318 8800, it is free

Solved it I think!
Got on to Humax who suggested Icheck my Sony TV settings and after ages I noticed there was a setting set for power saving which was ON and it was adjusting my ppi ture continuously based on the ambient light in my room!!!!
Turned this off and all the other so called power savers!
Much clearer now
Thanks for help
