It's about to get a whole lot worse. These things never help they slow you down and annoy you. At work we have this thing called "assistant" it's anything but! First thing I do when I log in is disable it!

I like copilot, the summariser is particularly useful.

I hated the paperclip

Supercomputers powering AI research use an extrordinary quantity of water as coolant. I read that engineers at the waterworks in West Des Moines, Iowa, said that 6%  went to Microsoft supercomputers powering ChatGPT and programes like it & they wondered if this continues if the future residents can be assured of adequate water supplies.

^^  They also use a phenomenal amount of electricity

TBF Khandro that's drop in the ocean compared to Bit coin miners.

My knowledge on the subject is little better than zero, but we use water in our cars as a coolant which circulates, why does this, presumably clean drinking water, have to be wasted ?

Question Author

Yes good point Khandro, I have little idea of the actual hardware but you'd have thought the cooling system would work like a car.

Just turn them off, not really any different to Cortina they just uck the life out of your processor and that's before it gets to the resource hungry servers.

Copilot doesn't hog the resources on my PC, it seems quick and efficient.

Good fun, too, creating pictures and daft poems.
