I'm getting fed up with DVDs that insist on showing you ads and 10-minute trailers of other films. You can't fast forward, you can't switch them off (except by ejecting them), you can't get to the menu... Sorry if I'm the only person in the world who doesn't know the answer, but how do you just start playing the movie?

Search the net for a programme called AnyDVD and this allows you to burn a 'back up copy' of your DVD without the annoying ads & trailers.

thanks Phil but I'm looking for less work rather than more. I just want to watch the DVD, not make another copy of it (the one that prompted this thread was Harold and Kumar get the Munchies, of which I suspect there are probably enough copies in the world already). I just wondered if there was any secret way in to skip all the propaganda? Grrr.
