Wi-Fi Access Point.

Can anyne recommend a Wi-Fi access point for my upstairs. The signal from the  router downstairs isn't strong enough. I have ethernet sockets upstairs so I can utilise them to provide the Wi-fi.

Just bought one from Amazon but is £25 of junk to be returned.

My TP Link WAP works well but it is old and no longer available.  I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of their newer models

Yep, TP link plugged into the mains in our spare room works well as an extender.

Another option is Powerline. There are adapers that plug into the ring mainan ethernet cable goes to the first one from the router than others are places in sockets in the house and have one or two ethrnet outputs. They work exceedingly well using the electic wiring to carry the signal and not WiFi.

My understanding is that woodchopper wants a WAP to plug in to his powerline ethernet port

If it's relevant, my upstairs PC didn't have builtin wifi, so I bought a £5 dongle thing (the size of a memory stick) that plugs into  a USB socket on the PC. It wasn't good enough to pick up the signal from my router, so I bought one with a 7 inch aerial and that works fine. Cost about a tenner.

Had powerline adaptors but for operational reasons now they don't work anymore.

A simple dual band access point is all I need, preferably ceiling mounted upstairs.
