The update for Norton which was downloaded about a week ago, stopped the Outlook from sending and receiving mail so i did a system restore and it then worked ok. Why did this happen and how do i ensure that my pc is protected. I am running windows xp.Thanks

I don't know, but a system restore seems a lot of trouble to have to go to. Maybe the problem was with Outlook (Express?), in which case you might like to consider using Mozilla Thunderbird for your e-mail instead. Download it free from http://www.mozilla.com/thunderbird/
