Please assume I don't have a clue - because I don't.

I'm renting a flat for my daughter for her final year at university, and need to set her up with broadband.

I've only ever had BB through Sky, so have never had to worry about it. She will not have Sky or Virgin as she streams through her laptop.

How do I go about this? Does she need a landline?

I expect these are stupid questions, but I really don't have a clue!

Thanks in advance.

While her mobile service supplier can provide BB, the better route is to use a fixed line and a "normal" BB supplier of your choice.

As she is only renting, maybe ask the landlord/landlady what is available in the premises.

As said, make sure it is not included in the rent or as an optional extra.

If it isn't and the property can get good mobile broadband, 4G or 5G, this might be useful.  A lot of my friends use it at home, on narrowboats and caravans
