It's  only the one relative and he might have been meaning that although the benefit had been correctly awarded, the current criteria are not strict enough.

It's only an alleged comment and even then, he is reported to have said the relative probably shouldn't be on that benefit so it's hardly a clear case of fraud.

For all we know, he may well have already told this 'family' member they shouldn't be on benefits.

He should know better than to say something like that in public.

The fraud section will investigate, interview and try to find evidence that the person is obtaining benefits to which they have no entitlement.  They need proof before pursuing the issue.

Lammy comes over as being thick, so the person may be receiving benefits correctly.
