There's a good chance you will need to upgrade your PC if you are still running 98SE. XP takes a bit more oomph to get it to run nicely than 98 did.

Do you know the specs of your PC?

I think you will be far better off saving your money on XP Home and buying a new "system unit" (the main PC box).

You can get one for about 200 nowadays, and it will come with XP home pre-installed.

you can keep the current operating system on your puter and for $99 U.S, you can but an upgrade disk to upgrade to XP. If you were to get the whole XP operating system it would be $200.
If your system can handle XP that is.
I installed Windows xp professional on my last computer over Win 98 second edition but I only had 64 Meg ram and 10.2 gig hard drive,so Xp ran very unstably on it.You need at least 128/256 Ram and 20/25 Gig hard drive.
