Roughly how much web space..

I know this can only be a very rough guide due to graphics and scripts and stuff but very roughly how much web space wouls a typical say 10 page web site, with average graphic content, occupy ?? Thanks Malcolm

I have my own web site consisting of 14-18 pages with a fair bit of graphical content and that only takes up around 7MB. I fairly simple site of 10 pages could take anywhere from 1MB upwards. It is really hard to say without knowing more content details. Hope this helps!

Another way of thinking about this is not so much how much space DOES it take up, so much as SHOULD it take up. Given most users have a download limit of about 4K/s, and assuming you are designing a site for the majority of users (rather than a broadband content site for example), and going by the rule of thumb that users will leave your site if they do not a page inside of 10 seconds, you should not have content using more than 40K/page. Of course, with clever scripting you can preload other content whilst users are reading the first page: ie. just make sure the first page is damn fast! Really, it comes to "Why are you asking?"
