Messenger pop up
Hi all, recently cleared PC and then reinstalled everything including Hotmail Msg which my kids use to chat to their mates. But now, are getting this Adult Friendship ad coming on, via Packard Bell. Even when opening emails. How do I get rid of it?
Sorry about my obvious lack of pc knowledge and terms!

Download it here and when you run it you should find there are several little nasties ready to be banged up in quarantine (hopefully, that Adult one will be amongst them). Also, make sure you have an anti-virus program running, such as AVG (get it here ).
When you've done that, get busy on your ab work (I've just left you an answer to your exercise question!) ;o)
Hi Minxie
Its possible that the "advert/popup" is being transmitted via the Microsoft Messenger service (nothing to do with the MSN chat client"
Go to.. START - RUN
type SERVICES.MSC - press ok
SERVICES window opens - scroll down to MESSENGER - double click on this
choose "STARTUP TYPE" - choose DISABLED
click - APPLY - click STOP (could take 30 seconds to complete) - click OK - exit SERVICES window
This will stop certain popups appearing, if the other fixes mentioned previously don't work.
The MESSENGER service is not an essential for a home based PC
Best wishes and good luck
David
