Does anyone know any broad band providers that dont make you have a 12 month contract? Also i have a phone line in to the flat i live in, however we dont actually have anyone providing us with the phone, the flat used to have a telewest and a bt phone line, so to get broad band do i need to set up a line rental again or could we just have the internet with out the phone?

I believe Plusnet do a month by month contract and I'm reliably informed that their service is very good.
Virgin.net don't ask for a 12 month contract. They also don't ask that you pay a 50 (phone) line activation fee up front as most others do (unless you already have broadband and are simply changing provider).
They do, however, charge this 50 fee if you leave them within 12 months.

A good deal I think.
