I have 4927 .tmp files in my c:\windows directory

I have about 4927 .tmp file in my c:\windows directory that have filenames like this ''fffe37c9_{dd2d and on and on ...ab52c}.tmp what are they and can I safely delete them?

Generally speaking, it's safe to delete any temp files that have not been modified in over 7 days or so. Go to the C: drive icon (or whatever yours is) right click, then go to properties and apply disk cleanup. Check the box marked temporary files and click on ok. You will find that windows will prompt you with a message to tell you what you are about to do. I would not advise trying to delete anything directly from the Windows folder unless you are certain of what it is you are deleting.
