dreaming: give me the URL of the site that gives you popups.
in the mean time, make sure that popup blocking is ticked in tools-> options->content. also, click the allowed sites button next to it, and make sure no sites are allowed that shouldn't be.
one great advert-blocking extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=1865
well worth installing.

was popup blocking disabled?
if you're using firefox, one of the best things about it is that you can really customise exactly how it works, by adding extensions to it (free).
I'd recommend installing the following three extensions:
https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&category=Tabbed%20Browsing&numpg=10&id=1122
http://fasterfox.mozdev.org/
https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=1865&application=firefox
(On each site, just click "install now". a yelow bar at the top may appear, telling you it's blocked a program from running or something. just click the button on its right, and allow that site, then click ok, and click "install now" again.)
apart from speeding up your browsing, that'll also help block adverts on websites you visit, etc.

hi fo3nix, i had blocking pop ups on. I ran adware, and my virus scan and spybot. Pc was working fine earlier, but now keeps sticking. I am with AOL so not sure if thats good or bad?
Do you think I need to install the site you recommened, even with all my protection stuff I have on pc?
Like I said, am not too hot with pc, Apologies for my ignorance :(
