I have accidentally bought a US format VHS that wont work in my VHS player but will work in my step dads VHS player. He also has a DVD recorder.

Can VHS be copied to DVD? If so, how?

...mm.....you don't say if it is a DVD only recorder or has a hard dic drive, but that shouldn't really matter.........

..start the VHS tape.......and if it is on AV2 then press the DVD recorder AV change button to point to AV2 (on the front display panel probably)...then press Record on the DVD recorder..............
It won't copy if it's copy protected though.
Basically what you have here is NTSC whereas the UK standard is PAL. The only way to do it is buy the equipment (NTSC) from USA. However this company http://www.video-to-dvd.co.uk/transfer/vhs_to_ dvd_or_avi.html will convert NTSC vhs to DVD at no extra charge.
