I've got a black and white picture...

Ok so I bought the Matsui 227 DVD player, I've put in the code and set it to region 0. I also bought this converter: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-i-49-en-70-1au.html . I have an 'akura' TV from years and years ago (as in I think it's about 12 or 13 years old)

So anyway I set them up, and I can either get:

a) a black and white screen that doesn't move around like crazy (when the TV type is set to PAL with the converter connected)

b) a colour screen that moves around like crazy (when the TV type is set to NTSC when the converter is connected)

c) a colour screen that doesn't move around like crazy (but that's only when I don't have the converter connected and so the dvd player is connected straight to my tv, and the TV is set to PAL)

Anyone got any suggestions as to how I can get things set up right in order to play region 1 DVDs with a colour picture that doesn't keep jumping all over the place? x
