Processer or ram?

I have been looking on eBay for ages now for a laptop, of which some have high processer speed and high ram,

and others low processer speed, but still high ram, going for roughly the same price.

which is more important, Processer speed, or amount of RAM, could someone explain what the main things i should be looking for in a laptop?

I will use it mainly for browsing the web, and a bit of basic photo editing.

save up and get an apple so you dont have as many problems with viruses and bugs

Sorry didn't finish but I bought an ibook g4 and have never regretted a moment .Now they have even faster laptops as they use the processor from p.c's so you can get the best of both worlds

I would say 256 MB is a basic minimum for XP. 512 MB is preferred. Any more than that is wastefull IMO unless you are using RAM intensive apps like Photoshop. So I would get a laptop with the fastest processor with 512 MB RAM.

I'm running XP on a 845MHz laptop with 128MB of ram - it's not fast, but it works fine for internet browsing and word processing.

Don't get a Mac - they're overpriced and incompatible with most available software. They have their place in professional recording studios and for graphic design, but beyond that (especially for use as a home pc) it's like buying a Mercedes to drive the kids to school, and you'll pay for it though the nose.
