My friend gave me an old video tape (1990) to transfer to DVD, which I did. I went to make another copy just now, and there is a blurry scratchy line across the middle of the screen, which I can't get rid of. I have tried it on 2 different video machines, so it seems like it is the tape. But it wasn't there originally! HELP! I don't want to have ruined his tape somehow. What can I do to get rid of the line? My video has no tracking facility..

the tape is 16 years old ! you did a decent job taking a good copy in the first place.

take any future copys from the original d.v.d. you made for him.

if you got all the tape on disc, i cant see that he will be too upset.

if you're using the tape to make another copy, i suspect your (player) head needs cleaning...cleaning usually remedies the prob...good luck!!

Looking at the actual tape, there is a clear line right down the middle, all the way through. Is this a scratch? can it be cured??!

Scarlett, Could you tell me what programme you use to transfer video to DVD and is it easy to do?
