Which is best or is there no real difference in quality and ease of use. I am thinking or purchasing one.
So which one should I buy ?

I would say count the number of games you want to play/buy and see which format has the most. I have both and generally use the Xbox for run-around-blast-em/sports games and the PS2 for stratagy/roleplay gaming, i have found that the games seem to be cheaper in the long run for the PS2 aswell.
If there were more info about the Xbox360's future plans i would say hold off, but from what microsft have revealed it seems to have fallen short of the things we expected, i expected it to be MSNmessenger compatible and have more internet media downloads (like itunes), and it doesnt even play most old Xbox games. If you can wait till the end of the year PS3 will be the one to get, its going to be Blue-ray compatible (which will be the new 'DVD' format of choice) and also 100% backwards compatible.
My opinion is no more valid than anybody else's. But i prefer the PS2. for a couple of reasons. firstly, i find the accesories are easier to use and get hold of. there are more games than every other platform put together. It WILL play all old PSX games.
But like others have said, look for the games that you wnat to play, then get that machine. in general, i find that more games come out across the PC & Playstation combo than the PC & XBOX combo (despite the XBOX being jsut a thick mans PC).
On another note, if you have a playstation, it is just a playststion. 3/4 of the xbox owners i know have in some way networked/modified or altered their consoles, in a similar way to how townies put blue glowing lights on their cars...
think about it like this zorro:
[#] an xbox 360 has graphics comparable to a high-end pc (ie bloody marvellous !!)
[#] xbox 360 unfortunately has a limited number of games, and is FAR more expensive
[#] a ps2 is cheaper, but the graphics are still acceptable
[#] ps2 games are available for a huge number of titles, although tring to find good ones in the array of rubbish that you're presented with is remarkably difficult (best to go to gamefaqs.com etc and read reviews)
it all really depends on your criteria...
