What If The Labour Party Got Rid Of...

I have just bought a freeview box and was wondering if I need to re-align my rooftop aerial first. Is there a particular direction I need to aim it at and are there any sites that can give me guidance?
I have checked that I can receive Freeview in my area.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.You may need to move it if your local transmitter doesn't transmit freeview or only carries some freeview channels. This could be the case if your aerial currently points to a small localised repeater.
Do you know which transmitter you currently point to ?
A very useful site :

scroll down and use the post-code option.
Sorry, forgot to add that you may also need an aerial upgrade. Some freeview transmissions are outside of the range of some aerials so you may need a wideband aerial.
All depends on what you currently have, where you are, which transmitter etc. etc. A dig around the site I mentioned should answer most questions.
You will need to check if your aerial has a wide enough bandwidth for digital reception. Also if you can't receive Chan 5 analogue then you may find that the local aerial does not transmit a digital signal. You can check this out on http://www.digitaluk.co.uk.
Assuming all is OK then I would suggest you connect the Freeview box and see what you get before you mess about with aerials.
