somehow i have managed to change my mac hd into an ipod hd complete with icon and it even transfered songs on to itself. i dont now how it happened or how to revert it back. the hd works ok and i can still get to all the files and folders. i'm running os 10.2.3. oh and when i updated it also asked me if i wanted to update my hd ipod. i was thinking of ejecting it but i'm very unsure as to how this would effect it. any advice please. many thanks.

Snotmonkey .. have you partitioned your hard disk and if so which partition is the "ipod hd" on?
Question Author
there is no partition it's pretty much as i got it new, i came home from work one night and the imac wanted me to register the ipod as i plugged it in once i had done that it transferred all the songs over and became an ipod
With the imac you have the chance to partition the hd. (To divide it up into sort of individual mini hd's) We split ours into OSX, OS9, Programmes, Folders and a few others ... it means that you can empty one mini hd and start again without changing the others. Plus if you transfer inportant bits into another mini hd before you empty it you are then able to keep them. I suspect that you have created a mini hd called ipod and I would suggest that you try removing it but first I would do a full backup onto CD. Good Luck!
-Rebuilt your desktop. -Backup your HD. -Connect up the iPod and try exiting the disc. - Disconnect the iPod.
