I have heard that in some cities symbols are painted onto the pavement or walls in areas where you can connect to the internet using someone elses wifi connection. Is this true, and if so does it happen in my home city, Belfast?

Used to be a craze a few years ago, it's called Warchalking.

Most people secure their networks these days so it isn't as wide spread as it used to be.

No sure about Belfast but here in England it's illegal to connect and use somebody elses network without their permission.
I heard that they chalk little fish where ever there is a connection. Not a full on cod but just a small one...much like the one that Christians display in their cars.
