BT Freestyle 2200 twin problem

I have had this phone for a while, working perfectly. Suddenly this weekend I could not get a dialling tone and no ring when I was being called, the icon in the top left hand corner of the screen is flashing, in the instruction book it says that the phone could be too far away from the base, the phones have not been moved. OK I hear you say, get in touch with BT, not at one pound a minute! and online it wont let me submit the form so I can get an email reply. Help!
