CD Tracks to MP3?

Sorry to post what is probably a very simple subject (I hope), but being old and verging on senile my attempt at mastering 'new' technology is akin to an explorer hacking his way through a jungle with a machette! Yesterday I bought my first MP3 player with the intention of transferring my french language CD's on to the MP3 player so that I can learn on the move with a little more ease than carrying a portable CD player. The big problem being how do you convert CD tracks to MP3's? My thanks in advance.

For this you need Media player 10.

Insert the CD

In Media Player 10, click the tab 'Rip'

In the Top Right corner of Media Player 10, Click 'Rip Music'

Then It will copy the CD To your Windows Media Player Libary and into your My Music Folder

You need to download a transfer programme, just type in CD to MP3 at www.Google.co.uk and you have many to choose from, here's one for example - http://www.mp3-cd-converter.com/cd_mp3/transfer_cd_to_mp3.html

Once you have this it should be straight forward.

I would not take the advice from MTIHI (No dis-respect) but Media 10 will transfer the music from CD to a file called WMA (windows media audio) this file will not work on all MP3's so your better using a MP3 converter like the one mentioned above. Good luck

I, however, would take the advice from MTIH1992. Windows Media Player is already on your computer and will rip to MP3 and is free.

If you start up WMP and go to the Tools... Options menu, (you may have to click on the downwards pointing triangle in the top right to get the menus) then on the Rip Music tab, choose MP3 from the drop down box under Format.

Under Audio Quality, slide it until it indicates either 128Kbps or 192 Kbps, I personally prefer 192 but there's very little difference.

Ralph - does that add licenses to your files like when you convert them to wma? Or are all mp3 files license free?
