Answering Questions

Why is it that some people can't answer questions if the question text is too long? They say they can't see the 'Post an Answer' button, but do they not have a scroll bar at the side? :Is this a problem only with Macs or do other users experience it? I've never had it

The 'post an answer' box that pops up DOES NOT have a scroll bar, only the text box inside where you can write your answer. So since the Submit button is below the text box no amount of scrolling the text box will help, and since the window resizing option has been removed, that can't be used.

Why do some people have the problem and others do not? Well, its not the people, its the equipemt they are using - I guess its a combination of the browser and the operating system settings. I have not benn able topost - on the ukkids huge fax question for example, that others could. It might be that I have a static task bar down the bottom of thescreen -maybe if I chose the option that it was hidden then I'd be OK, but who knows.

The real answer is that the Answerbank site is poorly coded. Its a very basic site with few features. You can't edit your posts, you don't get notification if someone responds to your answers, you can't tell how many responses a question howhethe its been added to since you last looked at it. Basic things.

Can't you use the TAB key to get to the SUBMIT part? As for being contacted, the answerbank emails me if someone has posted a reply to my question. I agree about the not being able to edit your text after you have posted it but then again it gives people like spellmaster something to do.

Your comment about getting emails is correct if you ask the QUESTION - but you don't get emails when you reply to anothers answer -like I am doing here.

Pinotage: Sorry, you are quite right. Once again I am guilty of not reading the text properly.

I think the problem you describe is dependent on how your resolution is set for your monitor. If your resolution is set too low then the submit button will be permanently outside your screen. Setting it higher will give you more stuff, including the submit button, into view - rather like "zooming out". If your equipment (i.e. the monitor) can't produce sufficient resolution then trying to set it higher will be unsatisfactory, possibly damaging for it. Equipment less than 5 years old should cope OK for the purposes of the submit button.
