A 'poxy portable' detracts from the quality of the PS2 aswell! You'll still be able to use the portable with the PS3 though, just that you won't be able to appreciate the high definition as much (if at all).

If you are referring to my post then i'll explain further...

all tv's will be capable of displaying the ps3 but with a price so steep, all its processing/graphical power will be lost as standard crt tv's will not be capable of reaching anywhere near full display resolution.

xbox 360 can display in hi-def at 720p or 1080i - which all the main hdtv's are capable of displaying as their resolution is 1366x768(768 being the key here ie larger than 720).the ps3,however,displays at 1080p which only a very small handful of hdtv's are capable of displaying as their resolution is 1920x1080(1080 of course being equal to 1080!).So,therefore,many people are paying mucho dosh out for something that they cant utilise.

imho, the ps3's display resolution is several years too soon.

clear as mud ?!

i understand so a tv that does have 1080 would cost a fortune?
It might be worth noting that outputting a game in 1080P which runs at a decent frame rate is probably going to be way to much for the majority of developers and they will stick to 720P. Of course thats not going to be the case for all eg Grand Tourismo HD (then again, it's just Grand Tourismo 4 output in 1080P so that could be why its possible as its just an old PS2 game jazzed up).

Have a look at PC graphics, there are not many games that are playable at 1920 X1080 and thats despite high end graphics cards costing more then the PS3's projected price of 400 +.
