I currently connect to broadband internet via a USB cable into my desktop PC. My wife has a wireless enabled laptop, how can we connect the laptop to the internet at the same time as the desk top PC

You need a ROUTER. More specifically a WIRELESS router. Even though it is wireless the router will also be able to take a cable from your PC.


There are 2 types of router, one for a phone line connection, one for cable (NTL/Telewest) so make sure you buy the correct one.


Also make sure you set up security on your wireless network to stop people being able to piggyback on your network.

Many routers are not set up to take a USB cable for the modem though, so you may be wise to buy a wireless router + modem in one. The router then sits between your phone connection and your computer, and sends wireless signals to the laptop at the same time.
