when did the internet first come avilable in uk ?-how many websites were there? has anyone been online from the beginning?

do you mean the internet, or the world wide web?

mith's answer is for the internet. the www started 1990 time.

(D)ARPA have been online from the beginning. the odd other large american universities too.
