is it possible to use standard plug and play drives, like a cd rom, that are designed for a tower, for a lap top?

like a way to plug them in, use them, then remove them?

if so how?

thanks

You need something that's an "external" drive, meaning that it connects via USB2 or firewire.

such as:

thanks fo3nix, u realise there are proper ones for this but i just wondered if the ones i have got in my tower can be connected somehow, with an adaptor or something.

i can't see how as the plug and play cables such as the greay ribbon one and the black and red 4 pin one don't have sockets on the laptop, but wondered if there was a connector box or something.

or can i connect the whole laptop to the tower itself? rather than individual items
thanks

sorry, i meantto say 'I' realise that there are proper ones...
hi joko, coincidence will have that I am selling just the item you require on ebay. If you want to know more reply and i will send you the ebay URL.
joko you missed my item on ebay anyway let me know if you still need to do what you asked.

Hi Mullykid, sorry didn't reply, haven't been getting email alerts lately so didn' t know you'd offered this item.

are you putting it back on?

would you consider selling it separately, without the cdrom drive? (got about 4 of them already you see!)
which will also save the postage weight too.

if you can do this let me know how much it will be ( 2nd class recorded post is fine) and

cheers
