No Sound after Reformatting
4 Answers
I have a Dell Deminsion Desktop which had WinXP pre-installed before shipping. I had issues with the pc and had to do a reformat as Dell could not help due to the warranty. Since reformatting I now have no sound. I went to device manger and do not see it there. I do not know how to find it on the pc. Can someone help me please?

Does your computer have a small partioned (locked) drive that has the Windows version on it? When you first start your computer you should something like 'F10 to Recover' or similar. That should activate your computer to install the proper Windows version from the extra drive. Just follow instructions.
Don't laugh, this has happened before.... do you have the speakers plugged into the right socket on the sound card.
If you can get online with your computer go to your control panel/sound/properties and get your computer to search online for the right drivers.
Failing all that, give the computer to someone you don't like and get yourself a new one.
