I was recently on holiday in Turkey and tried to access my e-mail account from the computer in the hotel but I was denied access. I think that the problem may have been that to generate the @ sign on the screen from the keyboard I was using I had to type Alt-Gr-q and that may have been sending the wrong symbol to the net.

Anyone know what I should have done so that I can get it right next time?

If you typed an @ with Alt Gr+q then you had an @, no problem there.

I think it's more likely that your email address contains the letter i, and in the keyboard position where you find a dotted i on a US keyboard you find an undotted i on the Turkish keyboard. The dotted i is located on a different key.

I think it's more likely that you have a letter i in your email address or password. On the Turkish keyboard, there is an undotted i in the same position as the dotted i on a UK keyboard. The dotted i is located on a different key.

Thanks koster. No i in my e-mail address so that's not it. One of life's little mysteries, then!
