I've only ever seen that happen when sugary drink / coffee has been spilt on the keyboard - think the membrane inside had been short-circuited in some way which resulted in similar problem to yours appearing.
You have got the number lock on!

Press NumLk key to turn it off.
How did you post the question?
Are the keys in the normal place? No-one has prised them off and put them up with the number keys, have they? Good point cyclone!!

It is my computer at home. This is my work computer!
I've tried putting number lock off - that doesn't make any difference on this computer.
Doglady, if J,K,L comes after H then they are in the right places!!!!!!!!
Is it a laptop or a desktop?

My Laptop has no numpad obviously so it uses a [Fn] key to turn NumLock on and off, meaning keys i,o,p,j,k,l,n,m,and[,] become the numkeys..

Perhaps your keyboard has a similar feature...???
J K L are definitely numbers 1 2 3 on my laptop if I press FN and NumLk together.

Ah-ha. It is a lap-top. But the machine I am using is a desktop, so that must be the answer. Thanks for your help - I feel a bit of an idiot now!!!
