Digital cameras and Chargers

I have just brought a Digital Camera from PC World . When I got it home , I found that thee was no Battery Charger. On the side of the Box - in tiny letters - it states " Charger -optional "

Is it normal practice to supply a camera without a charger? If so , are the sales staff under any obligation to inform the customer?

Surely Goods have to be fit for purpose and any "optional" parts should be highlighted?

Any similar experiences or advice welcome.

I used to work at PC World (back in 1996) it was normal then that no digital cameras cam with a charger unless it was on promotion where you got a charger as part of a package.

Remember to buy the charger from the camera manufacturer

mine came with a charger but only cos it was part of a bundle.

Doesn't it take batteries?

And if the box states in any size letters "charger optional" then the sales staff are under no obligation. You're under obligation to read the box & the spec.

Its bound to take batteries, otherwise you can't take it further than eight feet from a mains socket.

My Olympus didn't come with battery charger or a case had to buy these separately.

I have sorted out the problem , which is mainly down to Samsung writing a VERY poorly worded manual. This implied that only a custom rechargable Battery was to be used.

However when I took it to the Store , an assistant ascertained that it would take ordinary AA Batteries - however he advised getting Heavy Duty Rechargeable AA Batteries and a Charger.
