I recently re formatted my pc after it was infested with viruses having installed broadband.
There is no sound coming from the speakers.
The connection on the back of the box where I plug the speakers in goes straight to the main board, which is an 845E MAX. What do I have to do? Is it something to do with drivers?

You probably need the Realtek drivers near the bottom of this page: http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/d vr/spt_dvr_detail.php?UID=313&kind=1

(Plus a firewall and some antivirus/spyware!)
Same thing happened to me. I had to go into the BIOS at start-up and then making sure the sound was enabled.

Thanks for the info. I will have another bash.

Is the sound card a separate item or is it part of the main board. Also, how do I get into the bios environment and once in where do I go to check the sound is enabled.
Thanks.

Oh, just one more thing. Every time I boot up the machine the cd drawer opens. Any ideas how to stop this?
