PC Just went bang!!
6 Answers
My daughters PC suddenly stopped coming on. There was no sign of any life. I checked the extension lead to make sure all sockets working (monitor working O/K). I used another power lead into the pcu, to check that it wasn't the lead that was faulty and then.....bang. What have i done!! Will i just need to change the PSU? Or have i completely knackered it up! Please tell me it's a simple job.

You can get replacement ones at places like PC world.
If you open the box you will most likely find it is a square box attached probably by 4 screws on the outside of the case.
It has a load of wires coming out of it but don't panic they all are one of 3 or 4 types.
Disconnect the cables from each of the components and remove the PSU and takei it with you to get a replacement.
Put the new one in and reconnect the wires. It doesn't matter which actual wire goes where as long as the right sort of plug goes in the right sort of socket it'll be fine.
My wife sucessfully did this on her own this year and she'd never opened a PC on her own before - it's really not that tough

hi definitely agree with previous posts psu is usually 1st port of call in this situation, however, would try online at http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/ choose products then components then power supplies very cheap and reliable company. it is very simple to change
Thanks all, will try swapping PSU with one from another PC as suggested. This is my first build. Im female and getting on a bit. My 25 year old son thought it was hilarious. Proved him wrong though. It did work, even if it was for a short while and no doubt with everybodys help i will get it going again!
